You probably already know that you can use a reverse email
search to identify someone but did you know that you can
also use it to locate someone?

A case study in a recent reverse email search: My office
was contacted by a client that had been conned out of a
very large sum of money. He had entered into a real estate
investment with a con artist. The con artist borrowed
against the properties without his permission and took off
with close to a million in cash.

Since he had a business relationship with this person he
had a copy of their drivers license and social security
card. We were able to take that information and quickly
come up with a list of addresses. The current address was
foreclosed on and mail to that address was returned with no
forwarding information available. We contacted neighbors,
relatives and former coworkers but we hit a dead end at
every turn. The con artist disappeared and was very good at
covering her trail. She canceled her cell phone and bought
a prepaid untraceable Tracphone.

Early in the case the client provided a yahoo email address
for the con artist. A quick investigation of the email
revealed that the email account was still active. We were
able to uncover a Myspace page with a list of friends,
some dating service memberships and a personal blog . None
of these blogs or ads had been updated in over 30 days but
still that proved to be the most current activity of the
con artist.

In the past we have been able to use the reverse email
search to locate runaway teenagers, bail skips and non
custodial parental kidnappers. Since this con artist was
obviously on the run we decided to treat the investigation
like we did those.

We emailed the con artist with a variety of pretexts from
aged Myspace and dating service accounts we maintain for
this purpose. Each email was sent using technology that
allows us to see exactly when and where it was opened.

We were able to pick up a trail from coffee shops and
public libraries. We studied these emails until we could
establish a pattern and predict the direction this con
artist was traveling.

Ultimately the thief slipped up and we able to pin point
her exact location. She was hiding out at the home of a
friends elderly grandmother.

Police in that town were contacted and supplied with the
warrant information and were able to swoop in and make an
arrest. This locate and ultimately the arrest would never
have happened if we were constrained to the standard old
fashioned skip tracing techniques investigators have used
for years. It was made possible by modern day technology
like the reverse email search, Internet investigation
techniques like locating social network memberships and
personal ad membership.

If you need assistance with a reverse email trace be sure
to use a reputable investigator that is considered an
expert in email tracing and has the knowledge and
experience to use a reverse email search to locate people.
